Year 11 Leavers' Day 2026

Posted on: 22nd May 2026

Our Year 11 students enjoyed a well-earned afternoon together for their Leavers’ Day this week, taking a little time away from revision and GCSE exams to celebrate everything they have shared since joining the school back in September 2021.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing students signing each other’s shirts, with some amazingly creative designs and messages. It was lovely to see so many teachers and associate staff joining in too, taking the time to add messages, memories and good wishes for the students before they move on to the next stage of their journey.

Pizza arrived, and the infamous rice crispy tray bakes kept everyone going, and we know those will be sorely missed by many.

Mrs Hughes, Head of Year, welcomed students together before introducing speeches, memories and words of advice from students and staff. It was fun to hear stories and reflections from the past five years, reminding everyone just how much this year group has experienced together since arriving at the school as Year 7 students after the pandemic.

Tutor speeches brought plenty of laughter and a few emotional moments too. One of the nicest things to hear repeated throughout was how they all grew to be great friends and learned to look after each other which we can see will continue beyond school.

A special mention must also go to Miss Duthie and the staff team behind the brilliant “Reach for the Stars” film, which had students laughing throughout and was a perfect way to mark the end of Year 11.

Thank you as well to the students for the thoughtful gifts given to tutors and staff. They were hugely appreciated.

Many of our Year 11 students will be returning to join the Sixth Form in September, which we are very excited about, while others are setting off to forge their own paths elsewhere. Whatever comes next, they will always be part of our school and very much part of our alumni family.

We are incredibly proud of this year group. They will be greatly missed and we wish them every success as they continue with their GCSE exams and beyond.
