RAF Benson Visit for Y8 Students

Posted on: 24th Apr

Last week, we took 15 Y8 girls to a day at RAF Benson called 'If You Can See It, You Can be It'.  The day started by the students being shown a video called The Dream Gap. The students got to interact and hear from some incredible, inspiring women throughout the day. Some of the highlights were speaking to a RAF Pilot, RAF Soldier, Beefeater, Air Ambulance Paramedic, RAF Fire Commander and RAF Mover/Driver, all female. We also spoke to the RAF Parachute Display Team, Armed Metropolitan and Military Police and an Adventurer who has traveled around the world in a Landrover.

The students heard directly from a female Beefeater who is one of only 6 ladies to ever have that role and a lady who rowed, solo, across the Atlantic Ocean. All the women were truly inspirational and the day really did challenge The Dream Gap!

We are grateful that our school has always strived for career excellence regardless of gender and we have our students and staff to thank for their never ending allyship.
