Mental Health & Wellbeing
Mental health is something we all have, just like physical health. It is about how we think, feel, cope, connect with others and manage everyday life. Sometimes we feel confident, calm and resilient, whilst at other times we may feel a little anxious, low, overwhelmed or unlike ourselves. These feelings can change over time and can be affected by school, friendships, family life, social pressures, exams, sleep, change or experiences outside of school.
At The Downs School, supporting our young people from Year 7 to 13 has always been at the focus of what we do. Our experienced pastoral and wellbeing staff work have worked with hundreds of tweens and teenagers and understand both the opportunities and challenges that can come with growing up between the ages of 11 and 18.
Over the years, students have visited our Student Support Centre for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes it may simply be for a quick chat, reassurance or a moment to reset after a difficult week. Other times, support may be needed over a longer period. Either way, our team is here to help young people navigate these important years, knowing there will always be somebody ready to listen.
Contact SSC on Teams or via your Tutor if you are a student, or via email if you are a parent. We warmly welcome every conversation. Mrs Clark is our key contact for Student Support Centre and SENco.
