Trips & Adventures
At The Downs School, trips and visits form an important part of our students’ learning journey. In 2025, our pupils had the chance to experience over 70 exciting off-site activities across the UK, as well as four international trips. These opportunities extended learning beyond the classroom, built solid friendships, lifelong memories and encouraged independence.
Here are just some of our trip news stories:
- Art trip to The Tate Modern
- Cross- Curricular Week: Y9 English & Drama Shakespeare Trip
- Music: Jazz Event Trip to The Corn Exchange
- Rushall Farm Trip for Geography Students
- Sixth Form Geography Trip Somerset
- Y12/13 Law trip to the Old Bailey and the Royal Courts of Justice
- Year 7 Art Trip to Kew Gardens
- Year 10 Media Students at Elstree
- Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme - Bronze, Silver & Gold Expeditions
Looking ahead to the 2025–2026 academic year, we are delighted to offer eight major trips for different year groups. Throughout a student’s seven years with us, there will be several opportunities to join one of our larger residential or overseas trips, with careful consideration given to budget planning to make them accessible. Each trip is thoughtfully planned with our curriculum in mind, guided by our CREARCI values, and designed for curiosity, to gain confidence and a discover a true spirit of adventure.
