Science

What is the curriculum trying to achieve?

The Science faculty’s vision for all learners encompasses breadth, depth and reach, enabling students to become creative and thoughtful individuals with a well-rounded worldview of the diversity of contributions that science makes in society and how science will equip them for the future.

We aim to develop passion and curiosity for learners at all levels through natural enquiry, leading to the skills of analysis and evaluation becoming second nature. Through problem-solving we foster resilience in students and in learning about the impact of scientific discovery and innovation in the real world we help them to understand the importance of responsibility and integrity as global citizens. Located in an area rich in science and innovation, we are motivated to drive and nurture ambition in our students, identifying and utilising the most beneficial opportunities afforded to them. Our curriculum continues to evolve and aims to ensure that all students make sustained progress in becoming ready for the world of tomorrow.

How do we organise learning?

Each of our subjects organises learning to achieve our federation vision of ‘Educating today’s students for the world of tomorrow: a seamless education from 4 to 19’.  Please click here to see a visual map of students’ planned ‘learning journey’ in science across Key Stage 3.

To see more detail on what we teach at each Key Stage 3 please see below. More detailed information for Key Stage 4 onwards can be found on the specific biology, physics or chemistry subject pages.
