Xtreme Falconry brings birds of prey to Year 7

Posted on: 12th Feb

Xtreme Falconry, the Dorset based bird of prey team, visited Year 7 pupils yesterday, bringing in a variety of birds for the students to experience close-up. This is the eighth year the company has visited the school, with the experience covering topics including food chains, habitat destruction and poisoning via pollution and conservation..

The talk was led by Xtreme Falconry founder, Martin Ballam, an experienced bird trainer and demonstrator who brought along birds including a kestrel, barn owl, and a chilean blue eagle. He showed each bird in turn. Martin was also open to questions from the students and they responsed with a wide range of interesting and thought provoking questions.

The event is a highlight on the Year 7 calendar and was thoroughly enjoyed by all those students who took part. Thank you to Martin for visiting us again.
