Tonight marks our annual Duke of Edinburgh Awards presentation, celebrating the achievements of our students who have completed their Bronze Awards over the last year.

In total, an incredible 88 students have completed their awards, led by Science teacher Miss Humphries who manages the programme.

The Duke of Edinburgh programme is available for 14-24 year olds and covers three levels, bronze, silver and gold.  We offer our students the opportunity to participate in the bronze and silver levels for which there are four areas of challenge that the students need to complete:

• Helping the environment
• Becoming fitter
• Developing new skills
• Planning, training and completing an expedition

The programme offers students the opportunity to discover new interest and talents, develop essential life skills and is a qualification that is respected by future employers. As well as undertaking their expedition, some of the students have been involved in a school based volunteering opportunity, hosting members of a local community group in regular coffee mornings, which have been enjoyed by all and included different activities such as show and tell and bingo!

We are very proud of our students for working hard to achieve their awards and wish them all a very enjoyable evening.
