Carnegie Medal for Writing Conference

Posted on: 19th Jun

Twelve of our students recently attended a Carnegie Medal conference at Kennet School, joining other young readers to discuss and celebrate this year’s shortlisted books. The Carnegie Medal for Writing, established in 1936, is one of the most prestigious British literary awards for children’s and young adult literature. Named after philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, the award recognises exceptional English-language writing for young readers and is judged by a panel of children’s librarians. The conference gave students the opportunity to explore themes, share opinions, and deepen their appreciation for outstanding storytelling. Events like this help nurture a lifelong love of reading and connect students with the wider literary community.

We sincerely thank Mrs Berger for organising this event and inviting students to read books they may not have initially chosen themselves.

All students are invited to read these winning books in our library:  The Carnegies Come and see them in GT1.
