The Downs School is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Gold School Games Mark for the 2024/25 academic year,  a prestigious national recognition of the school’s dedication to physical education, school sport, and pupil well-being.

The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, that rewards schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. The Gold level is only awarded to schools that demonstrate outstanding engagement, leadership, and delivery of a wide range of sporting opportunities.

Over the past year, We have shown exceptional commitment to sport and physical activity, with a strong focus on inclusion, student leadership, and providing high-quality PE lessons. The school has also excelled in offering a wide range of extracurricular sports clubs and competitive opportunities at both inter- and intra-school levels.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have received the Gold School Games Mark,” said Mrs Miller-Cook, “This award is a reflection of the hard work of our PE department, staff, student leaders, and most importantly, our pupils, who continue to throw themselves into every opportunity with enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and pride.”
