The Newbury Show 2025 - Sixth Form & Art

Posted on: 26th Sep

On Sunday 21st September, Year 12 and 13 Fine Art and Product Design A Level students joined other local schools at the Newbury Show for a special metalworking workshop.

Led by Farrier Nick Peppit from Hollington Forge, and kindly supported by CY Sheet Metal in Newbury who supplied the materials, students spent the day learning traditional blacksmithing skills. Using gas forges, tongs and hammers, they each worked the metal into their own flower, taking two to three hours to shape and finish their design.

It was tough, physical work that called for real perseverance, but every student came away with a unique hand-made flower to keep.

We would like to thank Nick Peppit and CY Sheet Metal for giving our students such a rewarding and memorable opportunity.
