Back to News ListYear 9 GCSE Fine Art trip to V&A, London
Posted on: 15th JanOur GCSE Fine Art students recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to the V&A Museum in London.
The day gave students the chance to experience world-class art and design up close, taking in historic sculpture and ceramics alongside fashion, textiles and contemporary work. Seeing scale, texture and detail in real life helped bring classroom learning to life and encouraged students to look more closely at how artists use materials, colour and form. The visit launched the GCSE Fine Art exam project, giving students the chance to gather first-hand ideas and inspiration through sketching and observation as primary research.
Students spent time sketching, taking notes and discussing their favourite works, gathering ideas to develop further back at school. It was a thoughtful, focused visit and a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of how artists and designers communicate ideas through their work.
Thank you to the students for their exemplary behaviour and to the inspring team at the V&A for looking after us.
