Programme of events planned for National Careers Week and National Apprenticeship Week

Posted on: 4th Mar

This week marks National Careers and Apprenticeship Week, with activities taking place across the school.

With a focus on modern foreign languages, Year 8 students will be discussing the advantages of studying languages at school, and Year 10 will examine how languages can be used in the world of work. In addition, all year groups will be undertaking activities related to future career choices during tutor time.

After school, teachers will be updated on recent changes related to careers in school, to help further integrate activities about the World of Work into the curriculum.

Produced by the National Apprenticeship Service, February's Parents Pack is full of resources, including National Apprenticeship Week information, an interview with an apprentice and much more. Please use the following link:

Preparation for employment is an integral part of everything we do at The Downs School. Whether our students go on to further or higher education, employment or self-employment once they leave us, we want their time at The Downs School to have provided them with the skills and knowledge to make the choices that are best for them.

The Downs School has full accreditation of the Investors in Careers Awards, demonstrating the ongoing commitment of the school to ensure every student receives the best possible Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) to prepare them for their futures.
