Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Bronze Award Weekend Success! 2026

Posted on: 8th Jun 2026

Well done to our 106 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award students who completed their qualifying expedition this weekend.

This is a record number of students taking part in the Bronze Award at The Downs and we are delighted that every student successfully completed the challenge.

The group first took part in a practice expedition in May, where they developed their navigation, camping and teamwork skills before putting everything into practice on their final expedition this weekend.

We have been proud of this group from the moment they signed up last autumn. Throughout the programme they have shown commitment, resilience and a willingness to challenge themselves, all while supporting one another along the way.

One of the reasons we value DofE so highly is that it gives young people the chance to discover what they are capable of. Alongside learning practical skills, students develop confidence, independence and self-belief that will stay with them long after the expedition is over.

Thank you to Mr Dunne , Mrs Rowland, Miss Ireland, Mrs Harris, Mr Holmes, Mrs Mogan and Mr Hedges-Jackson who  support ed the students and make the expedition possible. We are also very grateful to parents and carers for all the encouragement, preparation and support behind the scenes.

Congratulations to all 106 students on completing their Bronze Award. We look forward to welcoming many of them back next year for Silver.
