We are delighted to announce that former international netball player Shona will be joining us as guest speaker at our Sports Awards on 15 July 2026.
Shona has had an outstanding sporting career, earning 26 senior caps for Wales and representing her country at both the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town. Alongside her international career, she also spent seven years playing in the Netball Superleague, representing Severn Stars and Celtic Dragons.
From a young age, Shona was involved in both the England netball and hockey pathways before choosing to focus on netball while in Sixth Form. Her journey has taken her through elite junior and senior sport, including captaining Wales U21s and winning medals at international level.
We feel incredibly privileged to welcome Shona to this year’s awards. Her story is one of talent, hard work, resilience and determination, and we know she will be a real inspiration to our sports students, their families and our staff.
Shona follows in the footsteps of two exceptional previous guest speakers. Last year, we were joined by Brian McDermott, the Football Manager of Reading and Fulham. The year before, we welcomed Peter Saunders, an Alumni and Champion at the Invictus Games. Each speaker has brought something very special to the evening, sharing powerful lessons about commitment, discipline, resilience and belief.
The Sports Awards are always a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the dedication, progress and achievements of our students across a wide range of sports.
