There was an incredible array of cakes on sale yesterday at school, at an event organised by Year 8 student, Kellsey to raise money for a local police officer.

The officer suffered devastating injuries when a police car he was travelling in collided with a lorry in Hungerford at the end of last month. The officer remains in intensive care and a fundraising page was set up to help the family. The officer is a father of triplets.

Kellsey approached Waitrose, Marks and Spencer and Hillier Garden Centre, who all kindly donated cakes for the sale. She also collected donations of homemade cakes too.

The event has raised an incredible £450,  which also includes proceeds from another cake sale at Curridge Primary School last week.  Kellsey said: “My step dad is a police officer and a colleague of the man who has been injured and I wanted to raise money to help his family. The family has young triplets and no money to pay for a nanny or a cleaner. The money raised will help them to do this.”

Kellsey’s form tutor, Mrs Bailey added: “Kellsey used her own initiative to come up with the cake sale and it was extremely popular. She also approached local shops who have provided cakes. I am very proud of her.”
