Gym Refurbishment Opening Day

Posted on: 12th Oct 2026

We are delighted that the gym at our Sports Centre has been refurbished, as part of a £100,000 investment by West Berkshire Council and Everyone Active in the community facility.

The gym is a valuable part of school life. Staff and our Students from Year 9 upwards use it every day in PE lessons, and the new space gives them a modern, well-equipped environment in which to build fitness, strength and good exercise habits that will stay with them beyond school. It is also a real benefit to the wider community, who use the centre outside the school day.

The next stage of the programme will be a new sprung floor in the sports hall. A sprung floor absorbs impact, which reduces the strain on joints and lowers the risk of injury. It also gives better grip and bounce, helping students perform at their best in activities such as basketball, netball, badminton, gymnastics and dance. It will make a big difference to PE lessons, extra-curricular clubs and the many community groups who use the hall.

We would like to thank West Berkshire Council and Everyone Active for their investment and their continued partnership with the school. We look forward to sharing more news as the sprung floor work gets under way.
